Sustainability

Corrugated packaging is a sustainable packaging decision! Made from a renewable source, corrugated is recovered then recycled to be starter fibre for new packaging that can average over 80 percent recycled material content.

Packaging Committed to a Better Tomorrow

When it comes to packaging, there is one conversation that continues to prevail-what will happen to the waste?

For Moore Packaging sustainability is not a trend.

It is an essential part of how we do business. It is on the top of mind during every business plan, strategy, process and package.

We pride ourselves on being leaders not only in sustainability.

It’s not just about choosing the right material. It’s about increasing efficiencies, using less, and creating partnerships with companies that share these same core values.

How our Custom Design Process Decreases the Carbon Footprint

At Moore Packaging, we don’t just create boxes for the sake of creating extra stock.

Our customized approach naturally lends itself to both economic and environmental sustainability. Each corrugated product is designed specifically for the product it protects; minimizing the amount of materials used and increasing cube efficiency in transportation.

Effective and efficient

The process begins with our structural design team who optimizes each design for its performance and to decrease the environmental impact. This includes smaller corrugated sheet sizes, and an efficient design layout that minimizes the amount of waste produced.

Cost effective, lightweight, functional and versatile, corrugated packaging is the economic and environmental choice for sustainable packaging.  Recyclable, reusable, and in it’s rawest state (without bleaches or dyes), biodegradable, corrugated cardboard leaves a minimal environmental footprint.

At Moore Packaging, we take sustainability one step further beginning by hand selecting our paper suppliers based on their commitment to sustainability this includes recycling raw materials, fibre procurement that is Sustainable Forest initiative (SFI) certified, using leftover bark as fuel, and replanting seedlings.

In fact, one of the paper mills we source from produces approximately 50 million seedlings each year from company-owned nurseries for planting on private and public lands.

But that’s not all, Moore Packaging has the tools and techniques to create a fully sustainable packaging

This includes:

  • Using primarily recycled fibres within our corrugated product ranging from 80 to 100 percent
  • Replacing Waxed packaging (which is standard in the meat and poultry industry) with specialized papers that are 100 percent recyclable and repulpable
  • Enhancing the appearance, function, and performance with biodegradable water-based inks and specialized coatings that are 100 percent recyclable.
  • Partnering with print plate manufacturers that strive to eliminate film by using computer-to-plate technology.
  • If film must be used, our supplier recovers and recycles all the silver emulsion.

We are committed to protecting the environment throughout all our processes including development, testing, distribution, and the disposal of products.  This includes continually looking at ways to refine our processes and products, to increase energy efficiency, reduce waste and increase performance.

Sustainability is not just about our products, it is part of everything we do from encouraging responsible resources throughout our business, to reusing and recycling in all our activities.

It is a part of every conversation. But much more than that, it is in our products, processes, designs, and development.

Every action we take, every choice we make, every relationship we build today has an impact on our tomorrow.

Sustainability is not just a priority, it has become a part of who we are.
